Penn-Harris-Madison Schools
Mishawaka, IN
The P-H-M school district, located in Mishawaka, Indiana is a premier school district serving the Elkhart County area. Their mission is to provide an educational environment for students to reach their highest academic achievement. With clearly defined, rigorous curriculum integrated with technology, they value learning as a priority and challenge students to excellence through continuous improvement.
DSA provided consulting, design, and project management services for the technology upgrade of Penn High School. Services included the demolition of the state's first fiber-optic based media retrieval system installed originally in 1992, the creation of a new MDF and media head-end and the creation and construction of 13 new IDF spaces.
Existing classroom AV systems were removed and replaced with interactive white-boards and locally software controlled media delivery devices, as well as large screen projection with stereo sound. An instructor voiced-enhancement system was added all classrooms.
A new fiber optic back-bone, and structured cable plant supports the all-new LAN network designed for the building. Video is distributed via IP to all classroom and various LCD display devices throughout the building. The fiber-optic infrastructure allows for two-way video, voice, and data transmissions between the media resource center and all rooms.
DSA was responsible for:
- The development of the project budget,
- the solicitation of bids, and
- full management of the physical construction, electrical modifications, and all technology elements.
